The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him Nahum 1:7
You ever have one of those weeks where you just feel closer to God? Days where you feel His presence more than others or maybe your eyes are just opened wider to see His blessings in your life?
I’ve experienced one of those weeks. It’s been thoroughly enjoyable and life changing. God is working all around me and my trust in Him is increasing. It feels good.
It’s not that I need God to prove that He loves me by showering me with blessings. Or that I doubt his provision for me so much that I need new and exciting things to happen on a weekly basis. But honestly, I’m human and sometimes I have doubts about God.
Not doubts that I necessarily dwell on or I allow to alter my faith, but general feelings of anxiety or uncertainty. Particularly doubts surrounding my future, my profession or my kids.
It’s in these times where I think God fulfills that old adage, “show up and show off”. God has shown up and shown off in my life this week. It’s been incredible. New relationships are forming that are without a doubt providentially driven by Him. New ideas are forming in this drug addicts head that I know are not my own. God is leading and working to make all things new in my life and I so thankful.
Today I know God is here. I know He is on my side. I trust him and as the verse says above… I know He is good and I know that He cares….
I don’t know where you are today…. whether it’s been a week of closeness to God, or maybe you’ve drifted away. Whether life is simply good or bad.
Wherever you find yourself today, please know this. God is there with you. He loves you and longs to care for you. You can trust Him.
So I encourage you to read this verse to yourself a few times. Let it soak in, trust in the fact that He longs to care for you. Trust that He is a refuge for you in times of trouble and that includes times of doubt…
When you’re done, think about this past week and jot down a few things God is doing in your life that you are grateful for…. Here is my list.
This week I am grateful for…
- That serves a creative, loving, provisional God, who “shows up and shows off” and the coolest of times.
- That God is teaching me patience and therefore pushing me to further dependence on him for everything.
- That my kids are learning life lessons now, at young ages, which will help them deal with what can be a cold and unfair world.
- That “hope is alive” has peaked the interest of so many people even in its infancy
- That I’ve lived with my parents for the past 6 months. What a fun time it has been. Laughing, Crying, Bonding, Learning, Loving.
This week I am grateful for these people…
- Joe Pellow – Influence
- Shane Daugherty – Example
- Mark Hampton – Encouragement
- Floyd Carter – Friendship
- Blake Land – Energy
