In December, the corresponding curriculum to my book Hope is Alive will be released. It breaks down each chapter into a one hour session specifically created for small groups to work through for 6-8 weeks. If you have a small group in your church, are connected with a treatment center / homeless shelter or just have some friends that you think would be interested in working through this curriculum, let me know and I will put you on the pre-order list. Each book will run around $10 and all the proceeds will go directly to Hope is Alive Ministries to continue to further our mission of “Instilling Hope, Building Foundations & Changing the Lives of People Seeking Recovery”.
Here is a snippet from one of the chapters…. I HOPE you enjoy it!
Out of all the chapters in the book, this one has the ability to exponentially change your life. How? Let me give you just one example.
In November of 2012, one of my Hope Partners told me that my story needed to be on paper and challenged me to write a book. I balked at first, telling him that, in addition to me not being a writer, my story’s not that special or unique. But my Hope Partner wouldn’t quit encouraging me, so soon after that day, I decided that I needed to say YES. I told myself, Yes, I will try to write a book.
Six months later, the book was out and my life was completely changed.
This simple, three-letter response changed everything about me. God used my obedience and willingness to touch the lives of thousands of people. You are one them. But even more than the impact Hope Is Alive has made on people, it’s made an even bigger impact on me. How? Because, by saying YES to putting my life in print for the whole world to see, God did something inside of me I will forget. He fortified my dependence on Him and put me in a position where the only direction I could look was up.
Nothing can change a life quite like blind obedience can. It’s the birthplace of faith. When we put ourselves out there, taking a risk to help another or calling out of the blue to check on someone, God uses that willingness to bolster our soul and give us momentum to successfully tackle another day.
Saying YES is the attitude of someone completely surrendered to a new way of living.
Saying YES shows our community that we are truly different.
I believe that when we appear before glory, submitted to the Creator, He will look at us and as ask us these questions:
Were you willing?
Were you obedient?
Did you say YES?
