Well today is the last day of November, the month of giving thanks. With the rise of social media, the big trend over the past few years has been to publicly express your gratitude on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc. But as of today those daily “i’m grateful for” posts should cease. I wish they wouldn’t. Wouldn’t it be great if we did this year around? I think we’d all live much more joyful and appreciative lives if we did. After all, if we really stopped to think about it, I bet we all have way more than 30 things we are grateful for.
For me, I can’t afford to stop being grateful. It’s a death sentence if I do. As I mentioned in a recent gratitude post, my life before sobriety served one purpose. To get high. So I missed out on so many opportunities to experience God’s creation for the beautiful masterpiece that is. So today, I strive to live a life of gratitude, to savor each moment and live life to the fullest. This type of attitude helps me keep things in perspective, stay positive and at the end of the day make it through life sober.
Whether you took time to journal what you were grateful for in November or not. I want to encourage you to join me each Friday to publicly express what has internally left you grateful. There is something about verbalizing your gratitude that helps you hold on to longer…
