I read this quote on twitter last week and it grabbed me something fierce.
“Jesus knows your darkest secret. It’s ok. He wants you to look Him in the face and walk towards Him.” – Carlos Whitaker.

Since I’ve gotten sober, I’ve set out to live aggressively transparent. To open my life up with no secrets, no agenda, just hopeful authenticity. A “what you see is what you get” type attitude.

But the sheer thought that Jesus would know those deep dark secrets that not even my counselor at rehab knew was scary and kinda humiliating. I mean, I’ve done some crazy stuff and I’ve thought…well some really crazy stuff (don’t judge me, so have you) …. But the thought that Jesus would know those things, still love me and even desire my return love is a mind blowing reality.
I challenge you to let this soak in today. If you believe in God as the “all knowing and ever-present” creator of our world, Then this reality shouldn’t scare you. It should set you free.
Think about it. He knows you inside and out. Every good deed you’ve done and every horrible thought you’ve had and yet His love hasn’t nor will it ever change.

  • He is still pursuing you just as vigorously today, after that huge screw-up you made yesterday.
  • He is still longing to know you more today, even after you cheated on your spouse yesterday.
  • Jesus is still pouring out grace on you today, even knowing that you denied Him yesterday
  • He is still desirous of a personal relationship with you today, even though yesterday you relapsed. Again.
  • He still wants to see you live in freedom and purpose today, even though he holds a secret that could put you behind bars for life.
  • Jesus longs to walk beside you and comfort you today, even though yesterday you did the worst thing you’ve ever done.

Fully knowing your yesterday, Jesus loves you today.
Embrace the freedom that is His acceptance and love today. Rest in it, grow in it, and live in the freedom that is salvation through Jesus Christ. Today.

Challenge:
Think about the quote. Does it scare you? Does it push you away? or draw you closer to Jesus?
Today, take a moment to yourself and embrace the fact that God does knows everything you’ve ever done. Rest in this thought for 3 minutes. Let it soak in. When you are done, simply thank Him that even with all that knowledge, He stills loves you just the same.

Hope is Alive!
